The Cebu Elite, which is a selection of the top players in Cebu City, will be fielding a total of 75 players in the Boys Under-14, Boys Under-12 and Boys Under-11 categories.Footballers from the Boys Under-14 squad will be vying for a spot in the RP national team which will play in the upcoming Asian Football Confederation Under-14 Festival of Football on May 25 in Malaysia.

In San Carlos, the Cebuanos will be up against the best players from Iloilo, Dumaguete and Bacolod.

“The players will undergo games and skills test the whole week. The coaches of the national team will then pick the top 22 players,” Richard Montayre told Sun.Star Cebu in an interview yesterday.

Meanwhile, players from Boys Under-12 and Under-11 will be fighting for a spot in the regional squad.

EVFC to host National Ladies Football Championship

By Henry C. Villalva

THE Panaad Stadium and Recreational Park football pitch atBaatangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City will once again be the venue of a national football event on April 25-28, 2010, when the Executive Village Football Club headed by businessman Junie Lizares hosts the National Under-14 Girls and Under-19 Ladies Football Championship in cooperation with the Philippine Football Federation (PFF).

Expected to field teams in this two-division event are Davao, Cebu, Dumaguete, Iloilo, National Capital Region to be represented by NCRFA and RIFA and host team EVFC.

The move to host the national tournaments in Bacolod is a product of the consultations among various provincial associations in the Visayas including PFF Women’s Committee chair Mariano Araneta, Richard Montayre of Cebu, Deck Emperado of Negros Occidental Football Association in Dumaguete (NORFA), and Lizares which is intended top primarily discover Visayas talents and provide them opportunity for top-caliber competition as well as the possibility of being scouted for the national teams.

In this regard, EVFC is set to conduct a U14 and U19 training camps in the various venues in the province to be participated in by standouts from various football centers including San Carlos City, Victorias, Talisay, Bago, as well as school and club teams in Bacolod.

The training camps are set to kick off this Saturday at Panaad at 2:00 p.m. with 32 participants in the U14 category to be handled by head coach Reymando Baldava of Victorias assisted by Mark Yap of Rizal Elementary School, Janilo Soriano of Talisay and Vicente Ortigas of San Carlos and with former RP Team standout John Carmona as consultant.

The U19 division with 35 players will be handled by coaches Warren Concepcion, Rinelle De Oca and Paul Espinosa.

The national U14 champion team will compete in the AFC-organized ASEAN U14 championship in Vietnam in June while the U19national champion squad will represent the country in the AFC U19 Qualifying in October at a venue which is still being determined. (HCV)

Coach bares Cebu Elite Team line-up
By Mars G. Alison
Cebu Daily News

The Coach of the Cebu Elite Team has already come up with an official list of players who will be seeing action in San Carlos City from March 25 to 31 for the pre-selection of the RP team U-14.

Oliver Colina said he has high hopes for the 22 boys that he had chosen from among the many who have tried out to be part of the U-14 team.

Those who made it to the Cebu Elite Team U-14 are Kennedy Cuizon, John Dexter Espirito, Clint Ligan, Dominique Canonigo, Mark Joseph Arranguez, Pedro Agustin Diao, Jushua Miguel Kwan, Jaybee Malinao, Richel Villarba, Sean Low, Christian Reyvin Millebo, Kyle Knigth, Rafi Lipardo, JR Dakay, Antonio Eduardo Rafols, Ibo Caballero, Koko Gaudiel, Adriane Paul Covero, Adoi Machacon, Christian Dave Paez, Marvin Jade Baroro and Shane Larry Sarmiento.

They will go up against booters from Iloilo, Dumaguete and San Carlos City.

Colina said that the toughest team that the Cebu Elite Team could go up against will be Iloilo.

After the pre-selection, those picked will be made to do join the training pool under Colina, who will also be coaching the national team.

Official members of the RP U-14 team will be picked from the training pool who will be made to undergo a training camp here in Cebu City after the Holy Week.

Of the 22 boys, Colina is hoping that with the tough competition, at least four of the Cebuano boys will make it to the training pool and eventually to the RP team.

“I told the boys to do their best because they have an advantage of having me as their coach in the Cebu Elite Team. They already know the drills that they will undergo in the training camp because it is what I am making them undergo now during our weekend practice at the Aboitiz field,” Colina said.

Abellana National School coach Francis Ramirez said he has high hopes for his boys—Sarmiento, Diao and Cuizon.

The Cebu Elite Team is a pilot project of the 10-year program of the Asian Football Confederation and implemented by the Cebu Football Association.

The program is aimed to select the best of the best for the boys U-8, U-10, U-12 and U-14; and girls U-12, U-16 and U-19 categories.

Aside from the 22 U-14 boys, also to see action in San Carlos City is Cebu Elite Team's U-11 to be coached by Glen Ramos.

what is what ?

In this Thread it seems there are 2 different tournaments happen in San Carlos?
For me the Tournament of Mr. Carmona seems more constructive with a year schedule.

How to speak about Elite Teams,  if real club players are not invited?

The Mr.  Carmona invitation brings the football in Philippines more ahead as an elite tournament
which has no long time strategy.

Cebu Football - CFA’s 14-Under team moves to semis
AFTER a bad start in the Regional Festival of Football, the Cebu Elite Under-14 squad is getting better every game as it edged out football powerhouse Iloilo, 2-1, yesterday in San Carlos City.

The Cebuanos are now in the semifinals and was set to face the host San Carlos City at press time. The other semis is between Iloilo and Dumaguete.

The winners of both matches will face off for the title this afternoon.

Iloilo started out strong and scored the first goal, however, JR Dakay tied the game after redirecting a cross.

Koko Gauduiel then sealed the game with a strike just in the nick of time.

Cebu City dropped its first game of the tournament, 2-1, to Dumaguete. However the Cebuanos bounced back with a 4-2 rout over San Carlos City.

“The team has shown huge improvements. In the first game they were very erratic, they weren’t used to the pitch and they were also very excited,” Cebu Elite Under-14 coach Oliver Colina told Sun.Star Cebu yesterday.

“They have already adjusted in their second game and now they had a very good showing. If they continue to communicate and work as a team and follow my instructions, then maybe we a have a chance of winning this,” he added.

After the championship matches, there will be an exhibition match between the coaches and best players of the Under-14 tournament, which will be mentored by Colina.

Cebu U 12 team edged out San Carlos City/NOFA 2-1 in the finals ,courtesy of Veloso and Ceniza. While  Vergara the No. 19 got the lone goal in the closing minutes of the game for team San Carlos.
The game was totally one sided in the first 20 minutes of the game as Cebu took control but San Carlos managed to attack the wing and provide crosses only to hit it wide for the remaining 40 minutes. The host team couldn't convert their shots even in close range while the visitors having trouble attacking the goal when Ceniza was marked until Palmero the other playmaker of Cebu got re inserted in the 3rd half to provide attacking options.
Overall, Team San Carlos got the most shots of the game while Cebu has more possessions.

The championship game between the U 12 category yesterday was the best game this summer as  this was the  battle between the SOFRAM big boys and not so small players from Los Amigos Team. The SOFRAM Les Lions where cruisin to 6 win-0 loss record in the elimination round while the Los Amigos  Red Strikas had 4 W- 1 D- 1 L card but things changed when the two teams met in the finals as the great tactics of Coach Noel Manigos surprised the heavily favored SOFRAM team which is composed of players who competed against Iloilo in the DEP ED Regional tournament finals.
The game was a nail bitting finish as Los Amigos scored late in the second half at the 48th min. courtesy of Shanden T. Vergara  intercepting a mishandled control from  the tall defender Gabriel Mendoza then made a quick footed strike to the left goalside of the keeper. It was the only goal of the game but after it SOFRAM made an all out attack with lots of target and long balls in desperation while Los Amigos was hellbent on guarding their goal to the finish as players head out every throw-ins made by the aggressors, blocking every attempt in the striking area as the crowd where in stun mode anticipating every moment of it.
