Soccer is alive in Mindanao
Friday, 26 September 2008

By Jack Biantan, Pinoysoccer.com

LONDON - THERE is a misconception from a lot of people all over the world that Mindanao is a war torn place where poverty is a norm of life and the only known sport is shooting and the main rivals are the Army and the MILF.

Of course there is strife in certain parts of RP’s second biggest island but they are limited in some far flung areas and the most part of the island is peaceful. So when there is peace the only war is only at the football pitch.

The Iligan Football Association under its president Philippe Pirante and the hardworking members of the JESSHOPPE Creatives Ventures of Arnulfo and Jessica Osio organized the 2008 Kasadya Football Invitational Festival last Saturday and Sunday at the Global football field in Iligan city, Lanao del Norte.

Pirante gave the speech during the opening ceremony which inspired the footballers to work hard to win the trophies at stake.

Hundreds of footballers small and big, male and female trooped to the venue to compete in the two-day football festival, which was also supported by Pinoysoccer.com. (Follow the links for Kasadya 2008 photo gallery and video clips)

“It was unbelievable, the kids were very enthusiastic. I hope we can organize more tournaments like this in the future’’ said, JESSHOPPE Operations manager Benjamin Torres, in an e-mail to Pinoysoccer.com.

Benjamin Torres is the workhorse of JESSHOPPE and he sent Pinoysoccer.com all these informations.

Also included in the JESSHOPPE team were Suzette Lerio, Julieta Tabal, Michelle Sebial, Kenneth Cada, Jaime Comoc, and Lantaw Agency.

Aside from Pinoysoccer.com other sponsors of the tournament are, Greenwhich Pizza, Jollibee, Dunkin Donuts, Chowking, Elements Hair and Salon, Faj House and Cakeshop, Beefy Burger, Skin and Body Care Center, Herbal Life, Legacy, Crystal Clear, Ogis Lechon Manok, Swan "S" Foodhouse, Diga Bridal Shop, Shikos Clothing, Park 2 Go, Vision Salon and Wellness Spa, Insana Genral Merchandise, WMD Foodhouse and Fried Chicken, Nookies Foodshop, FERN C - AND GREEN BARLEY, Holy Family Child University , and W.
